Without a padlock, visitors leave
An SSL certificate encrypts the traffic between your visitor and your website. Without a certificate, every browser now shows “Not secure”, and that is exactly the moment someone clicks away. Google also takes it into account in its rankings: a site without https ranks lower than a comparable site with it.
Installation is the easy part. What we care about is what comes after: a certificate expires, often within ninety days. If it expires unnoticed, a big warning suddenly appears in front of your home page, usually on a Saturday. We automate the renewal and check that it actually succeeds.
This matters inside your own network too. Routers, camera systems and admin panels need a valid certificate just as much, otherwise everyone learns to click warnings away. And that is exactly the habit you do not want to teach people.

Do I really need a certificate?
Yes. Without https every browser shows “Not secure” next to your address, and Google ranks you lower. Even if you do not have a webshop.
What does it cost?
A certificate is included with our hosting. An organisation-validated certificate costs extra; we discuss that in advance.
Why does it expire so quickly?
Short validity periods are now the norm, and they are more secure. That is why we set up renewal automatically.
My padlock has disappeared, what now?
Usually there is still one image or script loading over http. We find it and fix it; report it to our helpdesk.
Padlock gone or certificate expired?
Let us know and we will look into it. For existing customers it is usually fixed the same day.
